C.A.V.E. project NOISESCAPE at ICMC2007
My paper, NOISESCAPE: AN INTERACTIVE 3D AUDIOVISUAL MULTI-USER COMPOSITION ENVIRONMENT has been selected for the icmc2007. The paper will be presented alongside a Demo of the NOISESCAPE software - which is basically my own 3D openGL ‘Game’ environment that has been designed for use in composition. It has mass-spring-damper model physics and dynamic models (just in case you were interested), and was designed entirely in Max/MSP/Jitter. I’ll be posting more on all this later - I promise, although - as I have hinted before, if you want more background information on what this might actually be about, you should check out the official Project Web Resource at http://www.goldsmiths.ac.uk/cave, which I will be updating more regularly from the end of this month.
In addition, a co-authored paper (with the most excellent Prof. Michael Casey) has also been selected. ‘SOUNDSPOTTER / REMIX-TV: FAST APPROXIMATE MATCHING FOR AUDIO AND VIDEO PERFORMANCE’. This paper details a number of improvements to Casey’s amazing ‘Soundspotter’ software, and discusses a few applications for algorithmic video editing. Those who have seen my real-time composition Third World Warhol might be able to work out why I got involved here…
